AgentWare and Southwest Airlines sign long term partnership

AgentWare, a leading global travel content solution provider, and Southwest Airlines, the largest carrier in the United States in terms of originating domestic passengers, have reached a long term agreement to provide Southwest content to international and domestic travel agencies.  The agreement, which gives Southwest a channel for its new international routes acquired in the AirTran Airlines integration, allows travel agencies access to these flights and fares. “We are extremely happy to partner with Southwest to expand their distribution portfolio and assist with marketing the Southwest brand to corporate customers and international travel agencies,” says AgentWare President and CEO Gary Lagarde.  “We think this long term partnership is a win for both Southwest and AgentWare.  Our global travel agency customers have been asking for access to Southwest content for many years and now this same customer base will give Southwest access into the Caribbean and LATAM markets,” adds Lagarde.

Southwest content will now be displayed in AgentWare’s Trip Console integrated desktop solution that is utilized by travel agencies to complement their GDS systems. Travel agencies will still need a Southwest identification number to take advantage of the new integration, but for the first time this access can be issued to international agencies directly. “This means that our international agency customers will be able to book Southwest content for all customers, leisure and corporate, once they have registered with Southwest,” adds Lagarde.  “Also, because Trip Console is an agency solution and not a corporate booking tool, Trip Console will also be able to satisfy post reservation servicing of Southwest bookings for travelers that rely on agents to make changes to their itineraries.

Trip Console is tightly integrated with each of the major GDSes and the traditional agent workflow. Trip Console allows the travel professional to use the active PNR to easily search for fares that are not in any of the GDSes from a variety of sources including: low-cost carriers, consolidators and other highly valued, non-GDS content. With one click all of the key passenger information can be automatically transferred to the non-GDS booking thereby increasing efficiency as well as accuracy. Once the booking is complete, the agent with one click can easily transfer the critical parts of the booking back into the PNR including optionally creating passive segments.
